elimination challenge
the chefs are in groups of two, or three for one group, and they are making a six course dinner based on movies. so each group picks any movie, and they get to make food based on that.
the teams and their work are as foll0ws::
Dale, Richard & Andrew - Willy Wonka
they get to use chocolate and they make a "fizzy lifting" drink. i thought that was funny. if you haven't seen the original willy wonka, leave the united states right now. then they said the thing about burping to get down from the ceiling (and impending death by huge rotating fan). the food was good, presentation was good. although andrew did want to dress up like umpa lumpas do serve it, that didn't happen.
Spike & Manuel - Good Morning Vietnam
they just wanted to do vietnamese food, so they picked a vietnamese movie. i think that's cheating. they did like spring rolls and stuff. it didn't seem very good, plus they cheated.
Jen & Nikki -Il Postino
it's an italian movie, so they made their own pasta. which i think is cool. i don't think it was great, but it was good enough.
Ryan & Mark - A Christmas Story
they were really funny. they did it beacuse in the movie there's no turkey, so they use duck. but the store (whole foods) didn't even have turkey or duck. so they used quaile. and there was something about chinese food, too. i don't remember. they were funny though, and did swell.
Antonia & Zoi - Talk to Her
it's some romantic spanish story. so they got to do spanish food. and they "wanted" bright yellow colors, from safron, but they didn't, because they wanted it to taste better. whatever. the food wasn't great.
Lisa & Stephanie - Top Secret!
i think that's how the title is, with an ! . this is one of those movies... i'm guessing like epic movie or meet the spartans, where it's not really a movie, more of a long joke. which is fine. i love epic movie. so there's this scene in it with a guy in a cow suit, so they made beef. they had lots of sauces... but the food was great, from what the judges said.
